I Didn’t Plan This

My story of encountering Jesus unexpected

mei 27, 2026

I got baptized on August 26, 2023. That was the day I decided I wanted to fully give my life to Jesus.

But my journey started one year earlier. And as I’m writing this, I’m realizing I don’t really have my full testimony shared online yet. Maybe one day I’ll find the time to properly record it for you. If that’s something you’d be interested in hearing, let me know.

So, back to 2022.

I was living “my best life” when one day, completely out of nowhere, I heard a thought telling me to go buy a Bible. I could try to come up with an explanation of why that happened, but the explanation is: Jesus wanted me to start thinking about Him.

Now, I’m someone who’s interested in many things. I know a little bit about everything. I had absolutely no idea why I should read the Bible, but I assumed it would probably help me prove why everything about religion was wrong.

So, I went to the bookstore down the road, bought a Bible, and was surprised by how expensive it was. I went home, poured myself a glass of wine, and thought I’d just read it like a normal book, front to back.

Then I got to the chapter about Lot and his daughters, and I was done. I closed the Bible and thought, okay, I’ve seen enough.

But months passed, and somehow Jesus just kept showing up everywhere. On social media, in podcasts, in random conversations. I honestly don’t even know how it became so prominent in my life.

Because I wasn’t looking for it. I wasn’t depressed. I wasn’t searching for help. I genuinely thought I was doing great.

But while Jesus kept entering my life, and while I would occasionally pick up the Bible, read a few verses, get annoyed and close it again, something did start happening…I started feeling the weight of sin.

I always knew excessive drinking wasn’t healthy and could eventually lead to addiction. I knew chasing success never really had an ending. But what else does the world offer you? I was living exactly the way the world tells you to live, and today I truly believe the world’s system is deeply influenced by Satan.

During that year, I questioned & I debated with God using the famous:

“If You are real, show Yourself.”

And after that, I started having dreams centered around Him, until one night…

In my dream, He came riding on a white horse, I couldn’t see His face because the light around Him was so bright you wouldn’t even be able to look at it in real life, it would completely blind you. He reached out His hand and simply said:

“Come with Me.”

He lifted me onto the horse behind Him, and that was it.

Mind you, I barely read the bible so didn’t even know the ‘come with Me’ situations with His apostles. After that dream, you might think my life turned 180° but no way hosé, I continued sinning in many ways: drinking, wrong language, chasing success, living for the world, but the only difference was, it felt horrible now. It wasn’t the same anymore.

So, I wonder, if you are someone that is in the same position, challenging God with the same question “if You’re real, show Yourself?” maybe He already answered you, but it didn’t satisfy you? Heads up, the Bible warns for a generation that is looking for signs and wonders.

Back to me sinning full force, honestly, I mourned my old life, and I didn’t want to let it go.

But it was like my eyes had been opened… I knew I had to turn away from my sins and it was the first time I started to understand the concept of ‘sin’, not intellectually, but in my heart.

For those who know me personally, you know how deeply I love animals. I’m literally the type of person who helps a snail cross the street.

So, when I decided to get baptized on August 26, 2023, something happened that morning…

At 8 AM, my cat died.

At 9 AM, I had to be at work with a fully booked schedule.

And that same evening, I was supposed to get baptized.

The old version of me would’ve canceled everything immediately, but I didn’t.

I went to work, and that evening, I got baptized.

To this day, I still don’t know how I made it through that day except for the verse:

“My grace is sufficient for you, for My power is made perfect in weakness.”  2 Cor. 12:9

Because looking back now, I know for certain: when I was weak, He was strong and that dependence is where grace operates powerfully.

Love always,

Charlotte
